Kitzbühel captivated by horses

Kitzbühel welcomes the New Year with a very special class of winter sport. From 14th – 17th January 2016, the 14th Valartis Bank Snow Polo World Cup will once again draw the world’s greatest polo players to the outskirts of Kitzbühel. Six international teams with players from eight nations compete against each other on the Münichauer Meadow. This means team play, dynamism and action-packed quality sport against the glittering winter backdrop of the Wilder Kaiser.

The snow conditions have put on their best performance just in time for the start of the competition and the organisers are hard at work setting up the complex infrastructure. International guests and various celebrities, including actress, Uschi Glas, and former German international football player, Andreas Brehme, as well as numerous media representatives, are already signed up.

Like the previous year, the 2016 programme begins with a team presentation on the Thursday afternoon (14th January) in front of Hotel Zur Tenne and a welcome evening afterwards in Casino Kitzbühel. Then the first tournament kicks off on the snow-covered polo field on the Friday. Spectators can look forward to three exciting matches each day, with the imposing Kitzbühel Horn and Wilder Kaiser mountains forming a stunning backdrop to the extravaganza.

The social highlight for 2016 will again be the “Polo Player’s Night” on the Saturday evening (already sold out), which traditionally takes place in a large tent right next to the polo field. After a dinner consisting of several courses, the party continues late into the night with live music. Then the prize giving takes place with all the teams following the final match on the Sunday afternoon.

Around the polo field – free admission!
